Amazon has signed an agreement to acquire the self-driving startup, Zoox, expanding its reach to autonomous-vehicle technology. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed but it is estimated to be more than $1.2 Billion, according to Amazon.
This acquisition will help Zoox bring their vision to reality. The company has been working hard to invent, and design a world-class autonomous ride-hailing experience.
Zoox will continue as a standalone business entity, as the company innovates and moves forward. The current CEO Aicha Evans, as well as CTO and co-founder Jesse Levinson, will continue in their roles.
Zoox’s technology includes wheels that can turn sideways for tight maneuvers, like truly parallel parking. Zoox had been road testing its autonomous technology around San Francisco and Las Vegas.
