Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, Has Acquired X Bets for a Combined Value of $113 Billion.

Merger Value – $113 Billion

xAI has acquired X in an all-stock deal, valuing the companies at $80 billion and $33 billion, respectively. Elon Musk announced the news on the social media platform. Grok, the xAI’s chatbot, is available to X paying customers, while Grok uses the social media network’s data to improve its capabilities. In February, Bloomberg reported that the AI company was seeking $10 billion in funding at a valuation of $75 billion.

Google Acquires Cybersecurity Firm Wiz

Transaction Value – $32 Billion

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has acquired cybersecurity firm Wiz for $32 billion in cash. This is Alphabet’s largest deal to date. The deal fell apart last year after the cloud computing startup wanted to stay independent. Post-acquisition, Wiz will become a part of Google. Wiz offers cloud-specific cybersecurity tools that work on many platforms and often in complex cloud environments. This acquisition will enable Google’s cloud-computing business to compete with Amazon, Microsoft, and others with new security products to offer customers.

BlackRock-led Consortium to Acquire Network of International Port Operations

Transaction Value – $22.8 Billion

The BlackRock-TiL Consortium has agreed to acquire 90% of the interests in Hong Kong-based Hutchison Ports Holdings’ extensive network of international port operations for $22.8 billion. It will acquire CK Hutchison’s 80% effective and controlling interest in subsidiary and associated companies owning, operating, and developing a total of 43 ports comprising 199 berths in 23 countries, together with all HPH’s management resources, operations, terminal operating systems, IT and other systems, and other assets appertaining to control and operations of those ports.

QXO to Acquire Beacon Roofing Supply

Transaction Value – $11 Billion

QXO will acquire Beacon Roofing Supply for $124.35 per share in cash or $11 billion. Beacon is a leading roofing, waterproofing, and exterior product distributor with nearly 600 branches across the U.S. and Canada. The transaction is expected to close by the end of April, subject to a majority of Beacon shares tendering in the offer and other customary closing conditions. “Acquiring Beacon is a key milestone in our plan to create substantial shareholder value and establish QXO as a leader in the $800 billion building products distribution industry,” said Brad Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of QXO.

Canada’s Whitecap and Veren in $10.4 Billion Merger to Boost Shale Presence

Transaction Value – $10.4 Billion

Whitecap Resources will merge with peer Veren in an all-stock deal valued at C$15 billion ($10.43 billion), including debt, creating the seventh-largest Canadian oil and gas producer. The merger is the biggest deal in the Canadian oil patch this year. The combined company will become the largest landholder in Alberta’s Montney and Duvernay regions, two of North America’s most important shale plays.

Walgreens to be taken private by Sycamore in $10 billion deal

Walgreens Boots Alliance will be taken private by Sycamore Partners for $10 billion. Walgreens closed nearly a century of trading on public markets for the U.S. pharmacy giant. Once valued at $100 billion a decade ago as the second-largest pharmacy chain in the U.S., the company has now dwindled to just $10 billion. Its decline stems from shrinking drug margins and a shift in consumer preferences toward Amazon and Walmart for prescriptions and everyday essentials.s.

James Hardie and AZEK to Combine Creating a Leading Building Products Growth Platform

Transaction Value – $8.8 Billion

James Hardie Industries, a company providing high-performance, low-maintenance building products and solutions, will acquire The AZEK Company, a leading manufacturer of high-performance, low-maintenance, and environmentally sustainable outdoor living products, for $8.75 billion. The combined company will create a leading exterior and outdoor living building products growth platform with efficient scale and profitability supported by leading brands driving material conversion.

Dun & Bradstreet To Be Acquired by Clearlake Capital Group

Transaction Value – $7.7 Billion

Bain Capital, a leading global private investment firm, will acquire Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation (MTPC) from Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation for approximately ¥510 billion (approximately $3.3 billion). The divestiture will allow Mitsubishi Chemical Group to concentrate on its core chemical businesses. Proceeds from the sale will be used to invest in growth opportunities, reduce debt, and enhance shareholder returns.

Endo to Merge with Mallinckrodt

Transaction Value – $7 Billion

Drugmakers Mallinckrodt will merge with Endo in a deal valued at $6.7 billion. Endo recently emerged from bankruptcy after a wave of U.S. opioid lawsuits. Mallinckrodt Chief Executive Siggi Olafsson said, “The companies’ operations and products complement each other. With large manufacturing facilities in the U.S., he said the combined company could see some benefit from U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imported goods.”

onsemi will Acquire Allegro MicroSystems

Transaction Value – $6.9 Billion

Onsemi will acquire Allegro MicroSystems for an enterprise value of $6.9 billion. over the past six months, onsemi has made a number of attempts to enter into constructive discussions regarding a potential acquisition. The most recent Proposal was submitted to Allegro on February 12, 2025. “We believe the combination of onsemi and Allegro would bring two highly complementary businesses together, benefitting our respective customers and delivering immediate value to Allegro shareholders,” said Hassane El-Khoury, President and Chief Executive Officer of onsemi.

SoftBank Group to Acquire Ampere Computing

Transaction Value – $6.5 Billion

SoftBank Group Corp. will acquire Ampere Computing, a leading independent silicon design company, for $6.5 billion. Ampere will continue to operate under its existing name as a wholly owned subsidiary of SoftBank Group. As part of the deal, Ampere’s primary investors, Carlyle and Oracle Corp., will divest their respective stakes in the company. As SoftBank Group expands its AI infrastructure investments in ventures like Cristal Intelligence and Stargate, the acquisition will strengthen its capabilities in strategic areas and fast-track its growth initiatives.
