Major M&A Deals Across Energy, Events, Rail, Logistics, and Consumer Products

  • May 18, 2026
  • Merger & Acquisition ( M&A)

A new wave of billion-dollar M&A activity is reshaping multiple industries, from energy and rail technology to B2B events, logistics, and lawn & garden products. These deals show how companies and private equity firms are using acquisitions to expand geographic reach, strengthen core capabilities, create scaled platforms, and unlock value from corporate carve-outs.

Together, these deals represent more than $7 billion in disclosed or reported deal value and highlight the importance of monitoring M&A signals in near real time. Below are the top five M&A deals announced in the week ending May 17th, 2026. The data is sourced from the Intellizence Mergers & Acquisitions Dataset.

Acquiring CompanyAcquired CompanyDeal Size
Eneos HoldingsChevron’s 50% SRC stake and other assets$2.2 billion
Apollo-managed fundsEmerald and Questex$1.5 billion
Siemens MobilityMERMEC Businesses€1.2 billion / $1.4 billion
BrookfieldWorld Freight Company$1.2 billion
Pacific AvenueOldcastle Lawn & Garden$1.1 Billion

Eneos Holdings to Acquire Chevron’s SRC Stake and Asian Assets

Eneos Holdings will acquire Chevron’s 50% stake in Singapore Refining Company and other downstream assets in Southeast Asia and Australia for nearly $2.2 billion. The transaction includes Chevron assets in Vietnam, Australia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, and is expected to close in 2027.

This is Eneos’s first refining expansion outside Japan. The acquisition gives Eneos a stronger downstream platform in Southeast Asia and Oceania at a time when Japan’s domestic refined-product demand is structurally pressured.

Apollo Funds to Acquire Emerald and Questex

Apollo-managed funds plan to acquire Emerald Holding and Questex, combining the two businesses into a leading North American B2B experiential events and media platform. Apollo is building scale in the B2B events market, where in-person industry gatherings, exhibitions, digital engagement, and year-round professional communities are becoming increasingly valuable. The deal also reflects private equity interest in fragmented sectors where platform consolidation can create operational leverage.

Siemens Mobility to Acquire Key MERMEC Businesses

Siemens Mobility will acquire several key businesses of Italy-based MERMEC Group, a rail technology company focused on signaling, electrification, diagnostics, and measurement technologies. The transaction will strengthen Siemens global rail portfolio, especially in diagnostics and measurement technologies. While Siemens did not officially disclose the financial terms, Reuters reported the transaction value at about €1.2 billion, or approximately $1.4 billion.

Brookfield to Acquire World Freight Company

Brookfield Asset Management has agreed to acquire World Freight Company from EQT and PAI Partners in a deal valued at about $1.2 billion. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. World Freight Company serves more than 300 airlines across 3,500 trade lanes and works with over 16,000 freight forwarders across more than 80 countries.

The acquisition gives Brookfield exposure to a global air freight services platform at a time when supply chains, cargo capacity, and logistics infrastructure remain strategically important.

Pacific Avenue to Acquire Oldcastle Lawn & Garden from CRH

Pacific Avenue Capital Partners is acquiring Oldcastle Lawn & Garden from CRH in a transaction valued at over $1.1 billion. Upon closing, the business will operate as GardenCore, a standalone company focused on lawn and garden consumables. CRH is divesting a non-core or separable business, while Pacific Avenue is creating a standalone platform that can pursue operational improvement, growth initiatives, and potential add-on acquisitions.

What These M&A Signals Mean

These five transactions point to several important market signals:

  • Strategic buyers are expanding into priority growth regions.
  • Private equity is creating scaled platforms.
  • Infrastructure-like services remain attractive.
  • Corporate carve-outs remain active.
  • M&A signals are valuable early indicators.

For sales, customer success, risk, strategy, and market intelligence teams, M&A signals can help identify how companies are changing direction, where capital is flowing, and which sectors are preparing for the next phase of growth.
