The company is focused on industrial AI and aims to re-architect how physical products are designed and manufactured, from jet engines and medical devices to consumer electronics.

The company describes its goal as building an “artificial general engineer,” with AI tools designed to compress the product development cycle. According to Axios, Prometheus is not primarily about factory automation; instead, it is focused on optimizing pre-production machinery and processes such as prototyping.

The funding reflects China’s push to build domestic AI capabilities across models, infrastructure and AI agents. DeepSeek is expected to use the capital to strengthen AI development, compute capacity and agent-focused model capabilities amid growing global competition in AI.

This deal highlights how AI funding is moving beyond software companies into the physical infrastructure layer. As AI workloads grow, data center capacity, power availability, cooling and regional compute access are becoming strategic investment themes.

CRED — Meta’s $900 Million Strategic Investment at a $4.5 Billion Valuation

Company: CRED

Funding Amount: $900 Million

Round: Series F

Valuation: $4.5 Billion

Sector: Fintech

Meta Platforms agreed to invest $900 million in Indian fintech startup CRED, valuing the company at $4.5 billion. As part of the deal, CRED founder Kunal Shah was tapped to lead WhatsApp globally.

The investment gives Meta a minority stake in CRED, without access to CRED customer data. CRED said it will use the capital to accelerate growth, strengthen leadership and institutional capabilities, and expand across product categories.

CRED is an AI-adjacent fintech deal rather than a pure AI startup round. However, large platforms are investing in data-rich, consumer-scale businesses that can support payments, lending, wealth, commerce and AI-enabled financial services.

Etched is focused on competing in the AI chip market as demand shifts from model training to inference — the process of running trained AI models in production. The company had previously raised a $500 million round at a $5 billion valuation.

Investors are betting on specialized silicon and rack-scale systems that can reduce AI inference costs and improve performance as AI workloads scale across enterprises and consumer applications.
