Some of the major layoffs announced during the week are:
Easyjet – The aviation company is cutting up to 670 jobs as it plans to close bases at Stansted, Southend, and Newcastle
M&S – Marks and Spencer, the British retail chain selling clothes and food, is to cut around 7,000 jobs as the coronavirus pandemic increasingly pushes customers to shop online
PizzaExpress – The pizza food chain has decided to close 73 of its 449 UK restaurants due to coronavirus lockdowns and higher costs, a move that would impact 1,100 jobs
Alexander Dennis – The bus manufacturer has launched a consultation on plans to cut 650 jobs following a “significant fall” in demand for new vehicles
