Some of the major layoffs announced during the week are:
Debenhams – The department store chain has laid off 2,500 jobs as it seeks to reduce costs following the coronavirus lockdown
ABN Amro – Dutch bank is cutting 800 jobs and ending all trade and commodity financing as part of restructuring due to large losses at its corporate and investment division
Carlisle Interconnect Technologies – The company that assembles wiring for airplane inflight entertainment and other cabin interior systems, plans to shut down its plant and lay off its 595 workers
Bilfinger – The civil and industrial construction company has cut almost 6000 jobs across the globe
Amazon – The e-commerce giant has cuts ties with Philadelphia-area delivery services, permanently laying off 553 workers from three warehouse locations in Greater Philadelphia
NBN Co – The Government-owned company that is rolling out the country’s national broadband network, is laying off 800 jobs
