Some of the major layoffs announced during the week are:
Embraer – Aircraft manufacturer Embraer is to layoff 900 employees in Brazil, the equivalent of 4.5% of its global workforce
Amtrak – U.S. passenger railroad Amtrak will furlough more than 2,000 workers as a result of the steep decline in travel demand from the coronavirus pandemic
Juul – The electronic cigarette company Juul is to slash more than half its workforce with 1,200 job cuts, to save cash and weather a tumultuous period for the e-cigarette industry
