Uber has acquired UK based taxi software company, Autocab, which provides private taxi operators with technology to run their business. The service includes booking and dispatch software and also connects them with trips that can be accessed through their iGo marketplace.
Uber will be using Autocab’s marketplace technology to connect thousands of users, especially the ones who open Uber apps in places the company does not operate to connect them with local taxi operators.
No acquisition price has been disclosed and Uber declined to comment on the terms of the deal.
Autocab, post-acquisition will remain independent focussed exclusively on providing technology to the taxi and private hire industry around the world.
